Partnerships
Pursuant to Article 17 of the Protocol Relating to the Establishment of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union, while fulfilling its mandate, the Council shall cooperate and work closely with the United Nations Security Council which has the primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security. The article further provides for the Council's interaction with other relevant international organizations on issues of peace, security and stability in Africa. Articles 18, 19 and 20 also provide for the Council interaction with other African Union Organs as well as Civil Society Organizations on aspects relating to promotion of peace and security.
