PSC/HoSG/COMM.1156 (2023)Abstract
With deep concern, the Council strongly condemned the senseless and unjustified conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), and demanded the warring parties to immediately ceasefire, without any preconditions. The Council adopted the African Union Roadmap for the Resolution of the Conflict in Sudan, towards silencing the guns in Sudan, and called on Sudanese stakeholders and the international community to support its implementation. The Council further endorsed the initiative of the Chairperson to dispatch emissaries to the neighboring states of Sudan and the Horn of Africa region, in strengthening the search for a common approach to finding a sustainable solution to the multi-layered crisis in Sudan. Finally, the AU Commission was directed to provide regular updates to the Council on the implementation of this Communiqué.
