The Objective of this Pact is to promote peaceful co-existence and non-aggression in Africa, and to prevent conflicts of inter-State or intra-State nature, as well as to ensure that disputes are resolved by peaceful means; define a framework under which the Union may intervene or authorise intervention, in situations of aggression, in conformity with the Constitutive Act, the Protocol and the Common African Defence and Security Policy.
